Scammers offer to unblock VAT refun and end tax audit
Companies that had their VAT refunds blocked during a tax authority FS audit are being contacted by scammers who offer to release the refund and end the tax audit in return for a fee. They often have detailed information from the FS files. In one case, tax advisor Viliam Kupec asked for a €0.6m fee for unblocking a €2.3m VAT refund. He claimed he was able to discuss the case with the FS President and his deputy. FS denies any corruption or other wrongdoing.
