Malženice gas power plant in state hands
Economy Minister Peter Žiga (Smer) approves of energy distributor ZSE’s recent acquisition of the Malženice gas power plant from E.On (the state owns 51% in ZSE and E.On the rest). Žiga says the 400 MW power plant is a strategic asset that should be controlled by the state. Price was not disclosed, but Žiga says it was advantageous for the state and much lower than E.On’s initial investment of €430m. ZSE still can’t say how Malženice will be used, whether as a stable source or to regulate the power grid. It has been idle since 2013.
