Fiľo’s food businesses are expanding
Mayonnaise salad maker Ryba Košice, owned by Milan Fiľo since late 2016, posted a small loss and saw its sales decline by 31% to €27.2m in 2017. The drop in sales came on the back of lower distribution of food of other makers to €11m, as its own food production rose from €12m to €16m. The loss stems from investments into sales support. Fiľo plans further investments, growth in sales, and a return to profitability.
Last year, its only major competitor, Ryba Žilina (Jozef Antošík), posted a €1m loss after several years of profits. Its sales, though, rose 6% to €54m.
Last year, Fiľo’s meat processor Tauris continued to perform well. In 2009-11 it posted €7.3m in losses, but last year it made a €0.4m net profit, and its sales were up 22% to €82.9m.
