Further delays in Bratislava highway bypass
A consortium led by the Spanish firm Cintra won’t launch the construction of the Bratislava highway bypass sooner than May, as it still does not have a valid construction permit. Transport Minister Árpád Érsek (Most-Híd) promised the construction would launch in March, as all the building permits were issued last Fall. Cintra, though, explains that it had to make changes to the project that needed new building permits.
Cintra signed its contract with the state in May 2016, wanting to start digging that summer. One of the reasons for the delay is the too low pay Cintra is offering to its subcontractors. None of the large local construction firms will take part in the project. Its initial deadline of October 2020 will be missed by 1-2 years.
