VW plans to hire foreigners in Bratislava
The Bratislava plant of Volkswagen wants to hire 500 workers this year. It employs 13,700 and pays an average wage of €1,854. It has increased its workforce by 2,900 over the past three years. It is considering employing its first workers from Serbia and Ukraine, but only to a limited extent. It has been employing 550 Hungarians, workers from the nearby Audi plant, the past two years, but these workers will return to Hungary this year.
The Žilina car plant of Kia Motors just employed its first 20 Bulgarians. Last year, it paid an average wage of €1,458.
The Trnava plant of PSA employs 800 Serbs. It paid an average wage of €1,465 last year.
