The coalition parties Smer, Hlas, and SNS agreed on changes to the financial transaction tax, apparently planning to abolish it for sole traders and small businesses with annual sales of up to €100,000. The revenue shortfall is to be offset by abolishing November 17 as a public holiday. None of the coalition parties wished to commemorate the fall of communism. Next year, the coalition plans to eliminate another public holiday. No additional measures were announced yesterday, i.e., no spending cuts.
