ÚRSO, the utilities regulator, proposed solutions to the current chaotic situation on the energy market. It backs rapid connection of new renewable power plants, enabling suppliers to increase contractually agreed prices and obliging them to supply electricity at fixed prices. Some suppliers unilaterally raise prices for companies or even terminate contracts as they are unable to buy enough electricity on the market. Companies are unable to find new supplies and end up with ’last resort’ suppliers that charge very high prices. ÚRSO is also considering a system of state guarantees for suppliers so that they can buy energy on commodity exchanges. ÚRSO will now discuss its proposals.
