Za ľudí vetoed Russian vaccine
Slovakia will not buy Russian Covid-19 vaccine Sputnik, as the coalition party Za ľudí vetoed the purchase on Thursday. PM Igor Matovič (OĽaNO) proposed Slovakia buy the vaccine now but wait for its use until the EU approves it. Still, Health Minister Marek Krajčí’s approval would suffice for its use. For mysterious reasons, Russia has not asked the EU for approval of its vaccine, which it has already supplied to Hungary and intends to sell to Slovakia and Croatia, too. Za ľudí does not want Slovakia to become a testing ground for the Russian vaccine.
