TV Markíza had a good year

Markíza, Slovakia’s largest TV group, reported record profits and revenues last year. Net profit rose 14% to €27.9m and sales were up 15% to €151.8m. It was not affected by controversy over its editorial independence or growing competition from digital platforms such as Netflix and YouTube. The expanding economy is driving increased advertising spending, including on TV.
Last year, TA3 news TV channel cut its loss by 84% to €38,000 and its sales rose 10% to €9.6m. In 2020-24, it lost €4.2m.
