The Interior Ministry will soon call a new tender for the supplier of vehicle license plates. It estimates the 4-year contract’s value at €16m, while previous government aimed to pay €27m. Turčan Delta (Peter Blizniak) has had a monopoly position since early 1990s and is among Slovakia’s most profitable companies as a result (€3.3m net profit on €10.4m sales last year). ÚVO, a public procurement authority, has canceled the previous government’s tender as only Turčan Delta could have met what ÚVO saw as discriminatory conditions.
