State of emergency will expire on May 18
The state of emergency will expire next Tuesday, May 18 as the ruling coalition does not have enough votes in parliament to extend it. The night curfew and ban on mass gatherings will end, but some containment measures such as limits on people in stores and the obligation to have a respirator inside will remain. Without the state of emergency, healthcare professionals will again be free to give notice, go on strike and refuse to work. The coalition, though, is seeking ways to keep an emergency regime in hospitals without the general state of emergency.
