Sponsors are concerned about the reputational risks linked to KHL
Orange and Škoda, sponsors of the ice hockey federation SZĽH, condemned SZĽH’s decision last week to allow players from the Russian league KHL, financed by the Russian state and state companies, into the national team. Czechia, Sweden, Finland, and France have banned KHL players from their national teams following the Russian invasion. SZĽH argues that the seven Slovak KHL players are not breaking any laws, but sponsors are concerned about the reputational risks. "We are not indifferent to the situation in Ukraine," Orange explains.
