Slovakia the only EU country without funding for innovative defense projects
Slovakia is the only EU country that has not succeeded with a single application for funding under the €1.5bn EU program for research and development in the defense industry since 2017. It wants to apply for further support, as the European Defense Fund will allocate an additional €7bn in the next round. In it, though, the support criteria will be even more demanding. The Slovak Defense Ministry acknowledges Slovak companies’ weak readiness to participate in consortia and come up with innovative technological solutions.
