Slovakia paid €151m for Russian gas in November
EU countries paid €664m for piped Russian gas in November 2024, with Hungary (€258m), Greece (€164m) and Slovakia (€151m) paying the most. Payments for liquefied natural gas came to €592m, with France (€241m), Spain (€233m) and the Netherlands (€104m) paying the most. This made Russia the third largest gas supplier to the union, with a share of 19%, after Algeria (26%) and the US (20%). In the first 11 months of 2024, the EU paid €6.7bn for Russian piped gas, down from €7.3bn in the same period a year earlier. LNG purchases fell to €6.3bn from €7.4bn. Gas prices rose in 2024.
