Slovakia must pay €38.5m to the consortium led by Cintra of Spain, an international court of arbitration ruled. The consortium has built the Bratislava highway bypass and will operate it for 30 years. The fine compensates the consortium for the state being nine months late with a building permit; the consortium could not start construction on time and was paid later for availability of the bypass. Initially, the consortium demanded €120m.
