Slovakia dropped four places to 63rd out of 69 countries in this year's World Competitiveness Ranking compiled by the Swiss Institute for Management Development. The decline reflects slow economic growth and high fiscal deficits. Slovak managers appreciate the availability of skilled labor, cost competitiveness, and access to financing. On the other hand, they see political instability and low investment as the worst factors. They want Slovakia to invest more in research and innovation, reduce energy intensity, and improve conditions for the return of skilled Slovaks from abroad.
