Slovakia allocated the highest sum to shield consumers and companies from high energy costs
As a share of GDP, Slovakia has allocated the highest sum (9.3% of GDP) to shield consumers and companies from the rising energy costs, estimates Bruegel, a think-tank. This sum includes the government's pro-family package and cheap electricity financed by Slovenské elektrárne. EU countries have earmarked €657bn, of which Germany €270bn. Bruegel calls for the compensations to be more targeted.
