Slovak Telekom and O2 may share 2G, 4G, and 5G networks
Mobile phone operators Slovak Telekom and O2 are negotiating the sharing of their 2G, 4G, and 5G networks, zive.sk sources say. The operators declined to comment, and it remains to be seen whether they will share only technology or frequencies as well. Both operators use Ericsson's technology. Sharing networks will bring financial savings. In 2021, Orange and O2 were close to agreeing to share networks, but in the end the deal fell through.
Telecoms operators routinely share optical networks. 4ka clients have access to Orange's 4G network. In Czechia, O2 and T-Mobile have been sharing mobile networks for over a decade.
