Slovak companies posted a 4% annual drop in net profit last year, while their sales were up 3%, according to data of 141,000 companies that have already filed 2023 tax returns. Their paid income tax fell by €220m to €1.3bn. EBITDA profits grew the most in the services (+304%) and tourism (+115%) sectors. Companies' labor costs, mainly wages, rose 10% in 2022 and 9% last year.
