Share of cigarettes without tax stamps on the Slovak market rose to 10.8%

The share of cigarettes without tax stamps on the Slovak market rose to 10.8% this year from 7.7% last year, exceeding 10% for the first time, NielsenIQ's Empty Packs survey showed. Counterfeits of global brands are growing fastest, with their share rising to 6.9% from 4.8% annually. As much as a third of cigarettes in Komárno and Lučenec come from illegal sources. The state is losing tax revenue, while customers are losing guarantees of quality and safety.
