SE will donate €850m to households
Slovenské elektrárne (SE) will provide 6.15 TWh of power annually in 2023-24 to households for lower than market rates and the regulated price for households won’t grow, agreed the government with SE. In return, the government will kill the planned 50% tax on profits from nuclear power plant electricity and guarantee no tax and fee increases until 2025. Only households and possibly schools and hospitals, but not companies will get the cheap electricity. Finance Minister Igor Matovič (OĽaNO) reckons the agreement will save households €1bn in electricity bills. SE will supply electricity for €61 per MWh, while the current market price is €140. SE estimates that the agreement will cost it €850m.
