Samsung Electronics remains in Slovakia
In spring 2020, TV set maker Samsung Electronics announced plans to reduce workforce in its Galanta plant by 500 from 1,500. In the end, it only made 350 redundancies and now is even considering hiring, labor unions say. The management declined to comment. In recent years, the plant kept investing in new technologies and in 2019, it made 4.2m premium TV sets. At its peak, the plant made 7m units.
