Revenues of the largest 17 Slovak defense companies rose 36% last year
Revenues of the largest 17 Slovak defense companies rose "only" by 36% last year after 50% growth in 2022. While private firms boomed, the state-owned ones faltered. The most profitable is the production of ammunition for Ukraine and the net profit of the sector jumped by 51% last year to €74m. The four companies of the Czech Strnad family made an aggregate profit of €52m last year, and another €6m was earned by ammunition firm ZVS Holding, which is owned by Strnad and the state. Private companies S.M.S., SEC Technologies, and Aliter Technologies also reported significant profit growth. SEC Technologies (Martin Valovský) makes chemical detectors and tripled its sales last year to €5.5m. Ammunition and trading firm S.M.S. also tripled its sales, to €48m.
