Renewables increased thier share of Slovak energy mix
The Slovak share of energy from renewable sources of final energy consumption jumped to 16.9% in 2019 from just 11.9% in 2018 after Slovakia sent data on the consumption of biomass by households to Eurostat. These data were absent from previous statistics. The Slovak share was still the 10th-lowest in the EU but was close to our 2030 target of 19.2%. The rapid increase in the share has eased the pressure of adding new costly renewable power plants. Activists as well as potential investors into new photovoltaic power plants are concerned the government’s policies in the area of renewables will become less ambitious.
