Refugees from Ukraine will not take jobs from Slovaks

Employers reject the idea that refugees from Ukraine could take jobs from Slovaks. They suffer under labor shortages and Ukrainians are more expensive than locals as they need training, language courses, and accommodation. In January, 19,000 Ukrainians worked in Slovakia and this number will grow rapidly, as tens of thousands of refugees have obtained work permits. However, many of them want to return home as soon as possible. Companies that lost workers during the pandemic, mainly in the hospitality sector, are the most likely to seek workers from Ukraine.
