Prices of internal combustion engine and electric cars will equalize in three years' time
Prices of internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric cars will equalize in three years' time, the local automotive union ZAP estimates. Already, small ICE cars are disappearing from the market, as meeting new environmental standards is too costly. Technological advances are making electric cars cheaper and the new standards are pushing up the price of ICE cars. The EU wants to ban their sale from 2035, and some car makers, such as Stellantis and Volvo, will stop making them in 2030 (VW in 2033). Last year, EVs accounted for just 2% of all new car registrations in Slovakia, compared to 20% in the EU.
