Power prices will rise by 100% and gas prices by 55% for households

The state scheme of cheap energy for households means that power prices will rise by 100% and gas prices by 55% next year, coalition parties announced. Power prices, including fees, will increase from this year’s €186 per MWh to €281, although the price of the commodity itself will remain at €61 (courtesy of Slovenské elektrárne). This price will apply to 85% of 2020 consumption and power above this threshold will cost €904. The discounted price will most likely not apply to schools and hospitals; companies will receive as yet unspecified compensations. The Economy Ministry points out that market prices of power and gas have risen more than 10-fold this year. It says gas prices for households will rise by only 30-40% next year.
