Power consumption as well as production will grow

Slovakia’s power consumption will increase from this year’s 30 TWh to 33 TWh in 2025, predicts the Economy Ministry. The consumption will be depressed by energy efficient investments and pushed up by economic growth and electric cars. Domestic power production will increase from 29 TWh to 37 TWh, thanks to two new Mochovce nuclear power plant blocs and renewable sources. Coal power plants in Nováky and Vojany will be closed, and the gas-powered combined cycle power plant in Malženice will be Slovakia’s largest fossil-fuel power source.
