Penta reported €570m net profit in 2021

Penta reported a €570m net profit in 2021, an all-time high, despite the departure of partner Jaroslav Haščák. In the first pandemic year, 2020, it made just €134m. Assets of its companies increased by 8% to €12bn and their revenues by 6% to €7.3bn. Investments jumped by a quarter to €525m. Its banks (Prima banka and Privatbanka), pharmacy Dr. Max, and developer Penta RE reported the best results. During the pandemic, the group boosted the digitization of all its businesses. The developer built 1,050 apartments last year and another 1,730 are under construction. In the next five years, Penta plans to invest €3bn in its companies and new acquisitions.

Penta owns a minority stake in Slovalco, an aluminum smelter that may shut down later this year due to high energy prices. It failed to find a strategic partner for its hospitals. Last year, it sold its less successful Mecom and Aero projects.
