Penta reported €483m profit last year

Penta (Marek Dospiva and the Haščák family) reported a €483m net profit last year, down 15% annually but the 2nd-highest ever. It invested €806m in its companies and projects last year and the value of its portfolio companies' assets rose 29% to €14.3bn. The group's results were most significantly impacted by the Dr.Max pharmacy chain, Polish retailer Empik, and aluminum smelter Slovalco (which ceased production last October). Other large companies in the portfolio are Fortuna, Penta RE, Prima banka, Privatbanka and Iglotex. Former partner Jozef Oravkin left the group last year and took €244m worth of assets.
