Parliament approved Act on Support for Rental Housing

Parliament approved a new Act on State Support for Rental Housing. By the end of this year, a state agency will be set up to sign contracts with private partners who will build/buy apartments and provide them at regulated rents. It will also keep a register of those interested in cheap rents; criteria will be determined later by the government. A 5% VAT rate will apply to the construction or purchase of rental apartments. Companies will be able to deduct from their tax base a housing allowance for their employees up to €360 per month. (dennikN.sk)

Kooperativa (Vienna Insurance Group) is ready to invest €500m in rental housing, says Sme rodina leader Boris Kollár. Three other investors from Sweden, the Netherlands, and Czechia have shown interest, too.
