Mobile phone operator Orange will make its 4G network available to clients of small competitor 4ka from January 2024. Currently, 4ka's clients have access only to Orange's slower 2G and 3G networks; Orange is going to switch off its 3G network. However, Orange has not included frequencies in the 800 MHz band in the deal; it wants a higher price for them. Even the remaining frequencies cover 97% of the population, though. 4ka's 4G network covers 87% and its clients will enjoy a significant increase in the quality of service thanks to the new deal. It is valid for 2024-25 and 4ka will pay less than €10m a year, according to zive.sk's sources. In 2020-22, 4ka paid €5.6m.
