Online purchases down 28% in 1Q
The volume of online purchases in Slovakia was 28% lower annually in the first quarter, price comparison site Heureka data show. The drop stems from a base effect, as last year Slovaks flocked to online stores amid lockdowns, as well as high energy and food prices and uncertainty after the Russian invasion. Online stores like Dedoles, which have invested with the prospect of continued high growth, are now in trouble. Electronics and white goods are still the most popular items bought online, but their share fell to 38% from 47% in 2019.
