OLO to supply heat to Bratislava

The Bratislava waste company OLO has connected its incinerator to the state heating plant BAT and will use part of its waste heat to warm 3,500 households starting in the fall of 2022. Initially, heat supplies will come to 23 GWh annually, just 2.5% of the total heat consumption in the city, and later more households will connect and heat supplies will rise. BAT complains that further rises in OLO heat supplies are limited by its contract with PPC Energy (Veolia Group), valid until 2031. BAT wants to terminate it earlier, as the contract goes against decarbonization, is costly for BAT, and limits further OLO development. OLO is investing €1m to connect to BAT.
