Newly renovated 14th century mansion in Vígľaš to be auctioned off

A creditor, Finax Slovakia, is auctioning off a newly renovated 14th century mansion in Vígľaš. In 2007-14, US citizen Daniel Rekitar spent €16m renovating it, using €6m in EU funds. He turned the mansion into a 4-star hotel that lost €6.5m in 2012-18. In 2019, its sales rose to €1.9m but then the pandemic hit. The auction is planned for July 26 and the mansion’s value has been set at €16.6m. This will be among the largest auctions in Slovakia if Rekitar fails to agree with creditors by then.
