Markíza and Joj are preparing to launch TV news channels

Private TV groups Markíza and Joj are preparing to launch TV news channels. Until recently, the only TV news in Slovakia was TA3 (Michal Voráček) but recently the public broadcaster RTVS has launched its news channel, too. Loss-making TA3 had a 2.6% market share last year. Czech channels ČT24 and CNN Prima News are popular here and many households also have non-localized BBC, Sky, CNN and Euronews channels available.
