Labor Ministry sent for comments legislation introducing a so-called kurzarbeit scheme

The Labor Ministry sent for comments legislation introducing a so-called kurzarbeit scheme. The state will reimburse part of the wages of workers and sole traders during crises. Companies not having enough work for at least a third of their workers and sole traders with at least a 40% annual drop in revenues will be eligible for assistance. The scheme will pay 60% of workers’ net wages, companies will add 20% and workers will lose 20% of net wage. Sole traders will get 60% of their previous revenue. The subsidies will be paid by social insurer SP that will create a new fund and will redirect part of existing unemployment insurance levies there.
