Government approved faster building permits

The government approved a new Construction Act to simplify and digitize the granting of building permits. These will no longer be issued by municipalities, but by the state, which will create a new IT system. Municipalities will influence the construction through zoning plans. Licensed designers will play a major role in the building permit process. The approval of simple buildings such as family houses will be simplified the most. The Act prohibits legalization of unauthorized buildings. Municipalities protest the Act, as they want to keep control over new construction. As launch of the new approval process depends on the new IT system, it won’t happen by the end of 2023.
