Glassworks had good 2022 despite high energy prices
Several energy-intensive glassworks, which warned of serious consequences the energy crisis will have on their business, reported excellent financial results. The Trnava plant of US fiberglass manufacturer Johns Manville more than doubled its net profit to €12m last year, and sales rose 12% to €157.2m. Thanks to price increases, the company doubled its operating margins.
The Nemšová plant of the Swiss glass group Vetropack increased its net profit from zero to €3.1m last year and its sales grew by 36% to €103.2m. It benefited from high investments in 2018-19 and high capacity utilization. It increased wages by 8%. It expects good results this year too.
Lednické Rovne-based Rona (Pavol Brnka, Peter Vačko, Stanislav Biroš and Štefan Hanák) more than tripled its net profit to €2.8m and its sales grew by 35% to €98.6m last year. Its energy costs have increased 10-fold since 2020.
