Apple Pay dominates in Slovakia

Apple Pay was used to make payments worth €5.2bn last year in Slovakia and Google Pay’s volume was €2.6bn, Slovak Banking Association reported. The volume of payments is growing rapidly, with December's volumes 71% and 68% higher, respectively, compared to January. Last year, 240.3m transactions were made via Apple Pay and 128.5m via Google Pay. The total Slovak volume of payments via mobile wallets rose to last year’s €8.3bn from €262m in 2019. The two largest platforms had a 95% share.
