Farming subsidy priorities for 2023-27
Agriculture Minister Samuel Vlčan (OĽaNO) has presented farming subsidy priorities for 2023-27. His aim is to help food production, increasing the sector’s added value. He wants to move from subsidies per hectare to subsidies per farm and increase subsidies to small farms. Larger farms will receive higher subsidies if they switch to crops with higher added value, such as fruit or vegetables, from wheat and rapeseed. Subsidies will support greener practices. The volume of farming subsidies is to increase as the government increases its co-financing to EU subsidies from national sources from 26% to 37%.
