EU leaders agreed to phase out Russian fuels by 2027

EU leaders agreed to phase out Russian fuels by 2027 and will submit a plan in May. PM Eduard Heger backs the move, he sees it as an investment in Slovakia's future security, plus "Vladimir Putin needs to be stopped." Heger called the Russian president “an animal.” In return for Slovakia’s nod to banning Russian oil and gas, Slovakia expects the EU to provide energy security and compensation, including financial, said Deputy Economy Minister Karol Galek. Among EU countries, Slovakia is the most dependent on Russian energy. Economy Minister Richard Sulík is concerned the ban would have devastating consequences for Slovak industry.
