Energy suppliers VSE (controlled by Germany's E.ON) and SSE (EPH) suffered losses last year despite strong revenue growth over high energy prices. The main reason for the loss is that they had to take care of clients of bankrupt competitor Slovakia Energy and buy energy for them at very high prices. The state has not compensated them and is facing legal action. SSE lost €11.3m and its sales rose 52% to €1.5bn. VSE lost €2m and its sales were up 73% to €910.6m.
