Demand for ozempic growing in Slovakia too

Consumption of the drug ozempic in Slovakia, not covered by health insurers, rose from 825 packages in the last quarter of 2022 to 3,381 in 1Q24. The expensive prescription-only drug, which is produced by the Danish firm Novo Nordisk, was originally intended for the treatment of diabetes, but is mainly used for weight loss. Due to high demand, Novo Nordisk expects a temporary shortage of the drug in Slovakia.
