Changes in the third pension pillar

Labor Minister Milan Krajniak (Sme rodina) has submitted for comments his reform of the third, voluntary pension pillar. He wants to increase demand for pension savings and introduce new personal pension product. The state wants to subsidize the new product by €60-100 annually, depending on clients’ savings. Clients would be allowed to deduct savings up to €180 annually from their tax base. The product would be sold by 2nd and 3rd pension pillar managers, asset managers, securities traders well as banks and insurers. Costs for the new product are expected at €80m annually. Pension managers in the third pension pillar condemned the new product that Krajniak has not discussed with them. They want the state to subsidize their existing products.
