Bus transport in the Bratislava region will be free in January
Suburban bus transport in the Bratislava region will be free in January, announced VÚC region head Juraj Droba (SaS). Since November 15 Arriva has been providing the transport, but a drivers’ shortage means 25-35% of buses do not depart. VÚC has thus fined the carrier €0.9m and will use the money for the 100% discount. Those with annual tickets will ride free-of-charge for two months. VÚC will keep imposing fines on Arriva, of €30,000 a day, until 95% of buses are operational. (pravda.sk) Arriva says it will get to 80% this week. It is still short 70 drivers.
