Banks increased net profit 66% in the first quarter
The banking sector increased its net profit 66% to €229m in the first quarter, NBS reported. The rise in interest rates increased the sector's net interest income 28% to €520m, while net fee income rose 3% to €185m. Banks are still keeping deposit rates very low and so have been able to cope with both the economic slowdown and high inflation.
