Banks are increasing fees for handling cash at their branches before stores stop using 1- and 2-cent coins at the end of this year. This year, SLSP, VÚB, Poštová banka, Prima banka, and UniCredit Bank have already increased fees for handling coins and other banks are likely to follow suit since there are many small coins in circulation and it will be costly for banks to withdraw them. Banks are set to pass on the costs to retailers.
