2022 minimum wage between €646 and €680

It seems employers will not agree with labor unions on the 2022 minimum wage and, as usual, it will be up to the government to set its value. Labor unions want an increase from the current €623 to €680, which is 60% of the average wage in the economy in 2020. Employers would welcome freezing the minimum wage at this year’s level but are ready to accept an increase to €646, which is 57% of the 2020 average wage. While businesspeople point at the negative impact the pandemic had on many sectors, labor unions emphasize the speedy economic recovery.
