OFZ forced to halve output
OFZ, an iron-alloy maker owned by Vladimír Klocok, halved production during the pandemic, shut down three of its seven furnaces, and reduced employment as well as working hours, all because of lower demand in the automotive and construction sectors. Last year it already posted a €12.7m loss as its sales were down 19% to €129.1m. What’s more, the global prices of its output are down 20%. It is lobbying for the imposition of a carbon tax on imports from non-EU countries.
